An upgraded network brings new opportunities
Upgrading communication services
Across the UK, businesses are getting switched-on. This means that many phone,
broadband and ISDN services across the UK are being upgraded to BT’s new
nationwide next-generation network*.
Opening the door to the future
Businesses are increasingly expecting more of their IT and communications
services. Now you’re used to using the Internet and communications on the move
it’s possible that the next step is to make your communications more joined-up
and intuitive.
The products and services of tomorrow
Businesses not already connected to an alternative next-generation network
may soon be able to benefit from a new range of products and services enabled by
BT’s next-generation network. These services will be developed by a whole range
of telecoms suppliers.
Many of these products and services will be based on a more advanced and
flexible technology called Internet Protocol, and they’ll allow you to
communicate and connect with your customers like never before. switched-on means
you may soon be using BT’s robust, reliable network with the ability to manage
new types of data in the future.
Next-generation network – a telecoms industry partnership
Alternative next-generation networks already operate successfully in the UK
and some people are experiencing their benefits. BT’s introduction of a new
next-generation network on a nationwide scale is a great example of
collaboration between the telecoms industry, engineers, technology experts,
government and business.
* If you are connected to a cable service, are a customer of Kingston
Communications in East Yorkshire, or do not require a BT line for your phone,
broadband or ISDN services, you won't be affected by the rollout of BT’s new
telecommunications network. In these instances, your current telecommunications
arrangements will continue to apply. Mobile services will not be directly
affected.
